CH 8.2
This here is my friend Ashley in a portrait shot. With a little editing, i purposely brought out her eyes. The contrasts between the darkness in the shadow and the brightness in her eye is something beautiful. her face is the predominant factor in the picture. The half smile and the glaring look in her eyes display a mood or personality. She has a warm personality and you can feel the vibe of that. Her warm eyes also glare into the viewer and engage into a subject.
This is a side by side of a normal picture in comparison to a depth of field photo. You can tell the difference between the two with Tiana being the tipping point. In picture one, she is holding the ball in the same way as picture two, but she still is clear. In comparison to that in picture two, she is not as clear as picture two. The focal point in picture one is Tiana and the ball. Whereas picture two's focal point is the ball itself. My settings for my camera were at f5.0-5.6, with the shutter speed at 1/400 and my ISO at 100. Also my lens was zoomed in all the way. If you stay in the neighborhood of those numbers, you still should achieve a depth of field shot.
This is a depth of field shot. It is that because of the focused front and blurred background. The detail of the laces of the football immediately pop out and is a focal point of the photo. The leather of the football stands out as well. The sharpness of the front compared to background stands out in comparison with each other. With the correct aperture and the lens zoomed all the way, this depth of field shot was a walk in the park; or in this case, the football field.
Joel Antony, Jared Cheatwood, Daniel Ines made this tshirt.
Reflection: 1) What we like most about our tshirt is the bear claw ripping through the shirt. 2) If we had more time we would play around with more images more. 3) What i learned about quick deadlines is how to be most efficient in a short amount of time. 4) What i like about working in photoshop is the amount of freedom we have in our designs. This photo manipulation was done by Erik Johansson. This image is done in what-seems-to-be the middle of nowhere with a binding staircase. With the landscape expanding in the background, depth of field is a player in the photo. The illusion to me is a "stairway to heaven" with a man heading on his way up. With the barren background, the focal point of the photo is the staircase. The compound image in the photo is something that seems out of place, talking about the staircase. In terms of the rule of thirds, the staircase is placed right in the middle along with the dirty landscape in the other thirds. In terms of principles, there is a irregular pattern with the staircase in the middle that breaks the dirt apart. There is also a sense of balance in the photo with the staircase in the middle that poses like a scale. Finally, the staircase serves as emphasis that draws your attention to it. In terms of elements, there is a geometric shape in the picture, being the staircase. Finally there is one vanishing point serving as 1-point perspective. Putting all of that together, you get a Johansson masterpiece that is seamless and drive the imagination.
this is a personal shot I took of my friend, Allyson. She is throwing up the "Johnny Manziel money" sign along with it. Using the sun in the back, I took this silhouette shot and edited it using camera raw. With the light subject on the back, Allyson poses as a perfect silhouette. Along with the light subject, i darkened the back with a brush to compliment the lighting from the sun and the silhouette shadow.
This captivating photo was taken by Frans Lanting. He is a nature photographer who specializes in wildlife specifically. The glare of lion gives chills down viewers spines especially in this photo. I can only imagine how the prey of the lion feels. The icy stare is captured in this photo clearly and up close to where it almost becomes scary. Also the detail caught in the fur and whiskers compliment the eyes and that icy stare of the lioness. This picture also gives a sense of wonder in terms of what she is looking at and why she has such a mean stare. The great thing about this photo is the depth perception in terms of distance taken away from the actual subject, which is the lion.
This is the work of the great Dorothea Lange who is best known for her work during the great depression era. She captures one of the many families that have been effected by the depression. This family is living in the back of their car and they are obviously not happy. Lange captures the moment to portray the struggle and trials that almost every family in America had to go through. The color of the photo also gives a certain element of a darkness in the photo. The happiness isn't shining through the faces of the people. Lastly, this photo portrays many more struggles and also depicts the many obstacles that almost every family met during the Great Depression.
This is a photo by Thomas and Dianne Jones. They take this photo on the north Canadian river during their trip. The lighting along with the mist adds a certain beauty and wonder to the image. With the silhouette subject looking out, that also gives a sense of wonder. Finally the trees complete the setting under the big sun which is the glue that brings the whole picture together.
